Trainee Payroll Administrator
We are looking for an organised and conscientious payroll trainee to complement our successful team. We are looking for longevity of service to enable consistency of contact for our clients, and to enable the candidate to develop their role to an Payroll Assistant, and then potentially a Payroll Client Manager over time.
We will consider a Payroll Apprenticeship but this is not a pre-requisite, if an Apprenticeship route is followed then the Formal Government Apprenticeship Levels will be confirmed in due course, and the training will take place with an approved training provider either on site, at a college or online, timing and length of training to be confirmed.
The candidate would be initially involved in the following work: -
- Assisting with the processing of weekly, monthly and four weekly payroll
- Dealing with payroll clients queries
- Learning about numerous aspects of employment legislation
- Dealing with pension-auto-enrolment obligations
- Dealing with HMRC
- Dealing with The Pension Regulator
- Assisting with the preparation of Construction Industry Returns
- Deadline management
- Data entry
- Dealing with leavers calculations

Core Working Hours
Monday – Thursday 8.30 am – 5.00 pm (30 minute lunch break)
Friday 8.30 am – 1.30 pm (no lunch break).
Flexi Time
Staff can work with the time range of 8.00 am to 6.00 pm on any working day in order to accrue flexitime or make up flexi time owing. Accrued flexi-time may be used to flex their hours by starting later or finishing earlier than the core working hours above, subject to the rules stipulated in the Staff Handbook.
Holiday Entitlement
In addition staff are entitled to Bank Holidays as holiday entitlement.
The “Holiday Year” commences 1 April.
Christmas Closure
Duvet Fridays
These allow you to elect not to come in to work on two Fridays of the holiday year should they chose not to. Duvet Fridays will be valued at 5 hours for the purposes of the Flexi Time system and are subject to conditions as set out in the staff handbook. Duvet Fridays cannot be taken in the month of January.
